ILOILO City – Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will deploy more police personnel in universities, said ICPO spokesperson and chief of Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1), Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines.
She added that they are now assessing areas that need more police to watch over and avoid misunderstandings among students.
“Need naton butangan additional nga pulis sa mga dalagko nga universities para ma-avoid ta ang grupo kag fraternity. Indi kita gusto masulit ang natabo sa Arevalo district wherein two students were stabbed by fellow students,” Sangrines said.
The said incident happened last week in Barangay Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo district.
Bill John Billiones, 20, a resident of Barangay Lanas, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, and Glemar Lacandula, 20, of Trachiano, Dumarao, Capiz, were brought to the West Visayas State University Medical Center after sustaining stab wounds on the stomach.
The suspect, identified as Harold Masculino, 28, of Barangay Pakiad, Oton, who was drunk, was immediately arrested.
Sangrines said they have to strictly enforce city ordinances, especially the curfew for minors and the regulation of selling liquor to minors.
Just recently, the Police Regional Office 6 sent 100 young and strong police personnel to the ICPO as part of the additional 250 being asked by the latter.
