ILOILO City – A barangay tanod cheated death after he was shot by a suspected drug pusher in Brgy. Aguilnado, La Paz over an old grudge.
The 41-year-old Jeffrey Nuñez, a tanod of Brgy. Alalasan, La Paz, is now confined at the West Visayas State University Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his right shoulder.
The victim was reportedly sitting on a bench around 5:35 p.m. on Sunday when the suspect identified as Allan Almontero of Brgy. Alalasan arrived.
Without any altercation, the suspect shot the victim once and quickly fled.
The victim and the suspect had a previous misunderstanding over illegal drugs.
Almontero, 30, reportedly one of the suspected drug pushers in their barangay, was once warned by the victim against going on with his illegal activity.
In fact, he was being hunted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) but to no avail.
On the other hand, the La Paz police station chief, Chief Insp. Efren Lozada, vowed to investigate the incident on the drug angle.
A manhunt operation is being done against the suspect./PN
