NEGROS Occidental – A coordinated anti-drug operation by the Toboso Municipal Police Station led to the arrest of a tricycle driver and seizure of illegal drugs and firearm in Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso town here.
The 34-year-old alias “Ariel,” a resident of the said village and tagged as a street-level drug suspect, yielded seven plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 3.5 grams and valued at approximately P23,000 at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 13.
Also recovered were caliber .357 revolver, three live rounds of ammunition, and an empty shell.
The suspect is currently detained at the Toboso Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), in relation to Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution No. 11067 (Comelec gun ban).
Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, praised the dedication of the operatives in the fight against illegal drugs and loose firearms in their area.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to uphold peace and security by eliminating the circulation of illegal drugs and unregistered firearms. This operation is a testament to our ongoing efforts to protect communities from criminal elements,” said Wanky./PN
