BACOLOD City – Illegal dumping of unrecycled waste at the Reclamation Area must stop, according to Councilor Sonya Verdeflor.
“If left unattended, it could be a source of several types of diseases,” Verdeflorsaid.
The accumulated garbage is also an “eye sore” in the area, which is considered a prime component in Bacolod’s growth, she added.
The Reclamation Area is under the territorial jurisdiction of barangays 2, 10, 12 and 14.
Verdeflor authored a resolution requesting the village chiefs of these barangays, theBacolod City Task Force Clean and Greenand the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. to clean the area and make sure that there will be no further dumping there.
Before it becomes bigger, the city government must solve the sanitation problem, said Verdeflor, adding that it is a step to “redeem the recognition given to Bacolod as a Clean and Green Hall of Fame Local Government Unit.”/PN
