ILO urges PH gov’t to protect workers as tech, AI rises

MANILA – The International Labor Organization (ILO) recently said companies should ensure that workers’ rights, regardless of industry or employment arrangements, are protected as emerging technologies influence policy.

“Philippines has done a lot of work in terms of illegal contracting or subcontracting but the best way forward really is to continue dialogue, continue engaging each other not just at the local level but also to ensure that these issues are taken into industry level to take into account how technology is impacting work processes,” ILO project officer Cerilyn Pastolero told ANC.

Gathering labor inspection data can help companies “forge consensus” and comply with labor laws, Pastolero said. (ABS-CBN News)
