BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office 6, Internal Affairs Service, and the National Police Commission will conduct a motu proprio investigation into an anti-illegal gambling operation which left one person dead in Ilog, Negros Occidental.
On Thursday, March 18, Ilog police chief Captain Thurslie Castillo opened fire at the suspects after they stabbed him multiple times.
Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), said the investigation is a standard operating procedure.
The Ilog police, led by Castillo, carried out the raid after receiving reports that about 30 individuals were allegedly playing cara y cruz or tumbo in Barangay Dancalan.
The raid resulted to a scuffle.
Castillo was able to get a hold of some suspects. However, brothers Abundio and John Mark Redoble and Samson Tagapan resisted and stabbed the police chief.
Castillo, in response, drew out his service firearm and shot the suspects.
Abundio was killed while the three suspects, including a 16-year-old boy, together with Castillo were rushed to the hospital./PN
