BACOLOD City – Local authorities locked down indefinitely a sitio (hamlet) in Barangay Pinggot, Ilog, Negros Occidental.
The Rural Health Unit (RHU) announced the stringent quarantine measure in Sitio Sambag on Feb. 12.
Six residents got exposed to a confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to the RHU, these residents allegedly entered the quarantine facility in Barangay Pinggot with no permission and even interacted with the COVID-19 patient sans protective gear.
The six were swabbed and placed under strict facility quarantine. They may face charges for violation of Municipal Ordinance 2020-003, the RHU said.
The municipal government launched contract tracing to track down their close contacts.
As of Feb. 11, Ilog had a total of 56 confirmed COVID-19 cases, data from the Negros Occidental Provincial Incident Management Team showed.
The Ilog RHU urged residents to be vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel./PN
