Iloilo adds 3 more athletics golds in 2025 WVRAA Meet

SAN JOSE, Antique – Iloilo Giants secured three more gold medals from athletics at the resumption of the 2025 WVRAA Meet on Tuesday at the Binirayan Sports Complex here.

Reezy Mae Copla, a native of Dingle, Iloilo, captured a gold medal in elementary girls triple jump event, while teammate Celyn del Rosario settled for a bronze medal finish.

Loren de Juan and Rheannah Moreno, on the other hand, had a gold-silver medal finishes in the elementary girls shot put, while Eda Mae Arceo ruled the elementary girls 100m hurdles event.

In swimming, several Negros Occidental and Iloilo-based student-athletes also made their presence felt with podium finishes.

In secondary girls, Negrense Maxene Uy captured two gold medals in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter 4×50 relay (with Rhianne Gonzales, Marta Rodriguez, and Juliana Dejilla). Stacey Bee ruled the 400-meter freestyle and Rianna Montelibano the 200-meter butterfly.

In elementary girls, Negrense Illymari Ceniza won three golds in 50-meter butterfly, 100-meter backstroke, and 200-meter, 4×50 relay (with Sofia Secuelan, Abbe Veloria, and Kristin Garpa). Also with gold is Julia Pobleto in the 200-meter freestyle.

Ethan Base also captured a gold in the secondary boys 200-meter butterfly, while Nash Llamado and Aehro Jeush Tibus bagged golds in elementary boys 200-meter butterfly and 50-meter butterfly, respectively.

Iloilo swimmers also showed way with Ven Bartolome winning golds in secondary boys 50-meter butterfly and 200-meter, 4×50-meter relay (with Frenz and Jan Pasadilla, and Dave Llorico). Also with golds are Mateo Sion Palero (400-meter free style) and Jan Pasadilla (100-meter backstroke).

Ilonggos John Merck Millan, Khent Deano, Elijah Pedregosa, and Gab Pasamanero notched a gold medal in elementary boys 200-meter, 4×50-meter relay, while Aklanon Nuche Ibit bagged a gold in secondary girls 50-meter butterfly.

In gymnastics, Negrenses Harmony Garbanzos and Alannah Jeane Lim had a gold-silver medal finishes in the elementary girls hoops, rope, and free hand events.

Matthea Given Efenio, meanwhile, won two golds in secondary girls ball and hoop, while Jillian Krishna dela Cruz settled for silver and bronze in ball and hoop, respectively.

In chess, Negrense Ysabella Nabor notched two golds in the secondary girls blitz individual and blitz team event with Ellaine Abanco, while Christian Pelione also had gold medals secondary boys blitz individual and blitz team event with Jhurell Ferrer.

Negrense Bob Ferrer also won golds in elementary boys individual blitz and team blitz with Jo Sean Bagaybagayan, Ilongga Thea Grace Clar captured golds in elementary girls individual blitz and team blitz with Kate Pardilla.

In arnis individual likha anyo single weapon events, Iloilo’s Trisha Mae Sales (elementary girls) and Melchor Bataican (elementary boys) won a gold each, same with Negros Occidental’s Renalyn Cornel (secondary girls) and Aklan’s Jusmer Tambong (secondary boys).

Pototan Pilot Elementary School tennis standouts Arsen Belasa and Kael Palabrica had a gold and silver medal finishes, respectively, in the elementary boys table tennis event./PN
