ILONGGO athletes bagged medals in taekwondo and lawn tennis at the 2018 Philippine Sports Commission Visayas Open in Ormoc, Leyte.
Four of five taekwondo jins representing Passi City in the two-day weekend competition captured one gold and three bronze medals.
Allamelech Jannu Palmares took home the gold after winning all his three matches.
Settling for bronze were Tristan Ramon Gabrielle Orozco, Princess Nefferteri Jane Prado and Linmuel Dion Ines. Princess Nathalie Jean Prado fell short of a medal finish.
“The City of Passi is happy and proud that all of our taekwondo jins have performed well,” said Randy Palomaria, Passi City sports development officer. “The five of them gave their all in representing this city.”
Meanwhile Central Philippine University-Team Iloilo’s Althea Rose Martinez bagged gold in 14 and Under girls singles lawn tennis after defeating Aaliyah Bandalan of Baybay, Leyte.
Nikhel Nowlakha and Aleeva Feonne Suace of the same team captured silvers in 14 and Under boys and 12 and Under girls singles lawn tennis, respectively.
Marben Mosqueda of La Paz National High School and Elemar Alcalde of Alimodian National High School captured lawn tennis bronze medals in 16 and Under and 12 and Under boys, respectively./PN
