MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the municipalities of Miag-ao and Guimbal stamped their class in the poomsae and kyorugi event of the Iloilo 1st Congressional District Sports Association Meet at the Igbaras National High School in Igbaras, Iloilo.
Jins from Miag-ao captured the overall championship in elementary girls poomsae on Thursday by taking home six gold medals.
Meanwhile, Guimbal had five golds and a number of silver and bronze medals.
Delivering golds for Miag-ao were Crisgel Castro (elementary individual A and mixed pair poomsae), Glaiza Fae Cordero (elementary individual A and team poomsae) and Julia Aiko Anasco (elementary individual B and team poomsae).
Guimbal taekwondo jins had five gold medals, including three kyorugi golds, from Crystel Joy Gayares, Jenny Joy Molo and Roch Oilen Eala in secondary girls.
Darie Avegail Gayacan, on the other hand, captured two golds for Guimbal in individual poomsae and team poomsae event with Jaycelle Arianne Basco and Chrisylle Joy Mondijar.
Winning silver in poomsae were Clarence Naelga and John Anthony Espina in individual event and the trio of Philmerk June Tenencia, John Anthony Espina and Clarence Naelga in team event.
Capturing silver in kyorugi, meanwhile, were Marym Jo Genegaban, Edrian Sergs Balleza, Chris Arman Mondejar, Lovella Rhee Dado, Sam Gabriel Vargas, and Szwet Haro.
Bronze medal winners were Chrisylle Joy Mondejar and Philmerk June Tenecia in poomsae, Renzo Gelpe, Diolo Magno Garlan, Richard Eglarinda II, Keila Gelera, Jiffin Maesy Bensorto, and Margie Rose Gepes from kyorugi.
The medal winners will now advance to the Integrated Meet to be held later this year, according to Miag-ao and Guimbal taekwondo head coach Denmark Pinggol./PN
