Iloilo City antidrug council gets nat’l award for ‘high functionality’

ILOILO City – This capital city received an award from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its relentless campaign against illegal drugs.

It was among the 241 local government units across the country that the DILG conferred with the National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance (ADAC) Award.

Mayor Jose “Joe”Espinosa III received the award during a ceremony at the Manila Hotel on Friday.

The national ADAC award was given to LGUs that achieved an adjectival rating of “ideal” or “high functionality” based on the 2017 ADAC Performance Audit.

Iloilo City is the only LGU in Western Visayas that got the award.

Interior secretary Eduardo Año said the award recognizes the exemplary efforts of LGUs, through their respective ADACs, in complementing the national government’s efforts in eradicating the country’s illegal drug problem.

Among the factors considered during the ADAC Performance Audit-National Calibration are composition, financial capabilities, functionality, and accomplishments of ADACs in different levels of LGUs, including financial and physical accomplishments, drug clearing operations and community-based rehabilitation programs.

“I would like to thank the men and women of the Iloilo City Anti-Drug

Abuse Council for their support in the City’s Anti-Drug Programs,” said

Espinosa.

Based on the 2017 ADAC Performance Audit, 21 LGUs out of the 241 total awardees garnered the perfect score of 100 based on the functionality indicators that were used to score and measure the functionality of provincial, city and municipal ADACs.
