ILOILO City – This southern city was recognized for its efficient tax collection during the Parangal 2022 of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) – Western Visayas held in Negros Occidental recently.
The City Treasurer’s Office, under city treasurer Jinny C. Hermano, attained a collection efficiency rating of 132%, exceeding the annual target set by the BGLF for fiscal year 2021 based on the “Collection Efficiency in Four Locally Sourced Revenues” (Real Property Tax, Business Tax and Other Taxes, Fees and Charges, and Economic Enterprise).
The following awards were conferred to the Iloilo City government:
* Top 1 among all the highly urbanized cities in Region 6, based on the Highest Locally Sourced Revenue
* Top 1 among all highly urbanized cities in Region 6, based on the Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Real Property Tax
* Top 1 among all highly urbanized cities in Region 6, based on the Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Economic Enterprise
* Top 1 among all highly urbanized cities in Region 6, based on the Highest Locally Sourced Revenue in Business Tax and Other Taxes, and
* Top 2 out of 16 cities in Region 6 with a collection efficiency of 147.09%, based on Real Property Tax Collection Efficiency
Aside from Hermano, also awarded with certificate of commendation was City Assessor’s Office headed by Cheryl Tan.
Earlier, the Iloilo City government also received the following recognitions:
* Champion – Best Performing Local Government Unit
* Champion – Excellence in Local Legislation
* Champion – Environmental Governance
* 1st runner-up – Public Safety, Peace and Order
* 1st runner-up – Social Governance
* 1st runner-up – Economic Governance
* 2nd runner-up – Administrative Governance
* Local Government Unit Healthy Lifestyle Advocate
* 2022 National Literacy Awards
According to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas who celebrated his birthday on Dec.4, these awards were the best birthday gifts he got.
