ILOILO City – For the past seven days, the average daily cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this southern city dropped to five, according to the City Health Office (CHO).
Between Nov. 17 and Nov. 23, the city recorded only 36 new COVD-19 cases.
Data from the City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) of CHO showed so far this month, the city logged a daily average of seven COVID cases, much lower than October’s 37, 135 in September and 88 in August.
Meanwhile, there was an 84.09-percent drop in daily average cases this month against the 44 recorded on Oct. 1 to Oct. 23.
Coronavirus active cases (Nov. 1 to 23) were 83.89 percent lower than the 1,018 recorded in the same period of the previous month.
Most or 72.19 percent of the cases recorded in November were local cases, 24. 85 percent were new cases, 1.78 percent returning residents, and 1.18 percent returning overseas Filipinos.
Iloilo City is currently under Alert Level 2. Several economic and leisure activities were allowed to resume operations after over a year of closure.
Despite the loosened restrictions, Mayor Jerry Treñas appealed to the public to observe the minimum public health standards.
“Let us not put our protection down,” he stressed.
The mayor is also appealing to eligible populations to get vaccinated against COVID-19./PN
