ILOILO City – The Iloilo city Government has proposed a P3.6 billion budget for 2024 – 21.88 percent higher than the P2.96 billion 2022 budget.
Among the offices that have asked for budget increase were the City Mayor’s Office (P1.83 billion), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (P76.3 million) and General Services Office (P392 million).
Moreover, 40.66 percent of the proposed allocation will be for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses which includes the funds for the city government’s programs and projects, and operating expenses of each department.
The proposed budget is set for hearing at the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on appropriations.
To recall, the bigger chunk of the city’s 2023 budget went to general public services at 48.63 percent (P1.4 billion) where majority of the programs of the city are incorporated.
