ILOILO City – The City Population Office is now accepting nominations for the search for The Outstanding Women of Iloilo City (TOWIL) 2018.

“The city government recognizes the role of women in our society and we want to give the recognition they deserve through this award,” said Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

The deadline for submission of nomination forms is on Feb. 20.

TOWIL aims to give due recognition to women who have manifested exemplary performance in their particular field of profession that significantly contributed to Iloilo City’s development.

The search is open to all women of legal age who have made a major impact or contribution and have given pride and honor to Iloilo City.

She must be a member or officer of an organization or a person who has made significant accomplishments in a particular field of endeavor that contributed to the welfare and upliftment of status of women in particular, and in the promotion of a gender fair society in general.

There are 15 service categories:

* Judicial;

* Differently-Abled Persons

* Protective

* Religious

* Professional

* Academe

* Volunteerism and Community

* Culture and Arts

* Math, Science and Technology

* Business

* Non-Government Organization or Civic Organization

* Media

* Government

* Philanthropic Works
* Sports

TOWIL, in partnership with Gender and Development Program, and the Committee on Women and Family Relations of City Council, is in line with the National Women’s Month in March.

The awarding ceremony is on March 23, 2018 at the SM City Activity Center.

Espinosa issued Executive Order 011 designating the working committee chaired by Councilor Liezl Joy Zulueta Salazar and co-chaired by councilor Lady Julie Grace Baronda, City Population Officer Mary Ann Ramos and Donna Rose Ratilla from business sector. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta, Iloilo City PIO/PN)
