ILOILO City – More than 700 city hall employees took coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tests yesterday during the first day of mass testing at the Iloilo City Freedom Grandstand.
Specimens of these employees will be analyzed for the possible presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, Mayor Jerry Treñas said.
He expects that all test results would be released by weekend.
Treñas earlier ordered the closure of the city hall for three days to give way for the mass testing.
The mayor also issued Memorandum Order No. 215-A on the sanitation and disinfection of the premises of city hall building.
According to Treñas, the presentation of a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test shall be required for employees returning back to work on Sept. 28.
The city mayor warned that absences due to willful failure and refusal to comply with the directives will not be excused. Disciplinary measures and possible charges will be imposed against defiant employees.
“Appropriate disciplinary measures and possible charges may be filed against those who fail or refuse to comply with the directives,” said Treñas./PN
