ILOILO City – The city government will rescind its contract for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines with British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday disclosed that he wrote a letter to AstraZeneca expressing the city government’s intention.
Since the deal was tripartite, he also informed the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) and Department of Health (DOH).
“I-rescind naton kay ti kadamo naman sang bakuna and late man ila delivery,” Treñas told reporters during Monday’s press conference.
All other vaccine brands except AstraZeneca vaccine are available in the city’s district health centers, he pointed out.
The city government sealed a purchase deal with AstraZeneca for 600,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines at P500 per dose last January 2021.
A total of 180,300 doses or 18,300 vials have so far been delivered.
