ILOILO City – City government employees will resume the regular five-day workweek schedule effective May 16.
Mayor Jerry Treñas issued a memorandum order that city hall employees will go back to work for eight hours a day from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A four-day work week setup at city hall started on March 28 to help employees cope with the increases in fuel prices.
The city government also tapped modern jeepneys to ferry its employees from the district plazas (as pickup points) to the city hall and back every day.
Recently, however, the Resource Employees Association of City Hall (REACH) asked for the return of the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule.
The four-day workweek setup was recommended by the National Economic and Development Authority.
With this work scheme, the city government had hoped to save electricity and less traffic congestion./PN
