ILOILO City – From moderate risk last week, this southern city has been reclassified by the Department of Health (DOH) as a high risk area for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Between June 28 and July 11, the average daily attack rate (ADAR) per 100,000 population was at “high risk” while its two-week growth rate (TWGR) was at “moderate risk”, said Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, medical officer of DOH Region 6.
The city’s ADAR from June 28 to July 11 was 18.18 percent – higher compared to the 17.77 percent registered between June 14 and June 27.
On the other hand, this city’s healthcare utilization rate (HCUR) was also at high risk (82.26 percent). According to Natalaray, Iloilo City’s COVID bed utilization rate as of July 11 was 81 percent while its mechanical ventilators utilization was at critical risk (83.37 percent).
As of July 11, Iloilo City had a total of 12,006 cumulative cases of COVID-19 of which 1,674 were active, 10,015 have recovered and 314 died.
Western Visayas’ risk classification, meantime, was low risk.
Moreover, data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed that from July 1 to 11, the city logged a total of 1,058 cases. This was lower compared to the 1,371 cases recorded in the same period last month.
Data also showed an 18.18 percent decrease in the daily average cases recorded in the city for the said period. From July 1 to 11, the city noted 96 average cases per day against the 125 cases a day logged last month of the same period.
Meanwhile, of the 1,058 cases recorded for this month, 796 were local cases while 262 were new cases./PN
