ILOILO City – The proposed measure seeking to establish the Iloilo City Hospital finally hurdled the third and final reading in the House of Representatives yesterday, Dec. 13.
Out of 300 members in Congress, 229 voted in favor of House Bill 10464 authored by Lone District Rep. Julienne “Jam-jam” Baronda.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez, appropriations committee chair Cong. Eric Yap, health committee chair Cong. Angelina Tan and my colleagues in the House for their support,” said Baronda in a statement.
She said the approval of the measure was an early Christmas gift to the Ilonggos.
“We pray that the counterpart measure in the Senate will be passed real soon. We are doing our best to strengthen the healthcare system by putting up our own hospital so that Ilonggos will have easy access to affordable and efficient medical care,” Baronda added.
She thanked Mayor Jerry Treñas, the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the Department of Health.
