ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas has been cited as the best performing city mayor in Western Visayas by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD).
Treñas got a rating of 86.7 percent to top the list of 12 in RPMD’s survey conducted from June 25 to July 8, 2023.
“Happy man ‘ko pero gintan-aw ko ang mga mayors daw ako gid ang pinaka-senior. So maybe because of my experience,” he said.
Treñas gave credit to the teamwork of the men and women in the city government and their unwavering commitment to serving the people of Iloilo City with dedication and passion.
“I am very happy. Importante gid sa tanan ang teamwork. Ang syudad kadamo sang issues, may sports ka, mental wellness…the mayor alone cannot do it that is why kinanglan may teamwork sa tanan nga departments. I am very proud of the team,” said Treñas.
The “Top Western Visayas City Mayors” survey is a component of the “Boses ng Bayan”, a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of public officials using face-to-face interviews with a total of 10,000 respondents and a sampling margin of error +/-1%.
Roxas City’s Mayor Ronnie Dadivas came in second with a rating of 82.3 percent, followed by Bacolod City’s Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (80.5 percent); and mayors Melecio “Beboy” Yap Jr. of Escalante City, Negros Occidental (78.2 percent) and Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez of Victorias City, Negros Occidental (76.7 percent).
Also included in the Top 12 were mayors Maria Lizares of Sipalay City, Negros Occidental (No. 6); Stephen Palmares of Passi City, Iloilo (No. 7); Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental and Benjie Miranda of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental (No. 8); Rex Jalando-on of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental and Salvador Escalante Jr. of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental (No. 9); Nicolas Yulo of Bago City, Negros Occidental (No. 10); Rene Gustilo of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental and Narciso Javelosa Jr. of Sagay City, Negros Occidental (No. 11); and Joedith Gallego of Silay City, Negros Occidental (No. 12)./PN
