ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (ICDRRMC) Operations Center (OpCen) is on “blue alert” from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 for this year’s Undas.
In a memorandum, Mayor Jerry Treñas directed all vice chairpersons, cluster leads and unit leads to be ready for possible deployment when needed.
All members of ICDDRMC were also ordered to conduct close monitoring and report to assigned response clusters all related incidents to ensure prompt coordination with concerned offices or agencies.
Barangay disaster risk reduction and management committees (BDRRMCs) were further advised to conduct disaster preparedness measures to ensure the safety of citizens and report updates to the ICDDRMC OpCen.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, Police Colonel Leo T. Batiles, said his men are all ready to implement their security plan for All Saints’ and All Souls’ days this Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.
The ICPO sees a huge influx of people in cemeteries and other places of convergence.
Moreover, a series of meetings and close coordination with station commanders from police stations 1 to 6, local government, barangay officials, tanods, volunteer/advocacy groups, and the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) was held.
At least 300 police personnel will be deployed in various cemeteries, major thoroughfares, transport hubs, vital installations, and other places of convergence in the city.
Police assistance desks manned by policemen and other volunteer groups will be positioned in these areas to respond immediately to any eventualities.
The ICPO reminds the public that the following are prohibited in cemeteries:
* selling or bringing of liquor
* firearms and other deadly weapons
* illegal gambling
* smoking
* karaoke
Also, the ICPO will strictly implement the “no vaccinaction, no entry” policy as stipulated in Executive Order No. 085 of the city mayor.
Policemen and other law enforcement agencies will only allow vaccinated individuals to enter private and public cemeteries as a measure to minimize the spread of the COVID-19. Only those with vaccination cards will be allowed to enter the said places.
Lastly, the ICPO reminds the public to be vigilant at all times to avoid being victimized by criminals./PN
