ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is wary of 13 newly formed youth gangs.
ICPO spokesperson Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines said the gangs were based in various districts. These are the following:
City Proper
* Singko Brothers (eight members)
* Barangay Estanzuela (15 members)
* Veterans Zone 8- Milas Boys (six members)
* Pala Pala II (17 members)
Jaro
* Benedicto Group (seven members)
* San Isidro Group (four members)
* Olats Gang (three members)
* Simon Group
Molo
* EX Molo Side (14 members)
* Olatz 1
* Sohigh/Rapzy (seve members)
Mandurriao
* Olatz 2 (four members)
There were also gangs in Arevalo and La Paz districts.
“Indi man gid ‘ni sila fraternity or mabaskog nga grupo, kundi daw mga grupo-grupo sang pamatan-on. Nag grupo-grupo sila kay daw binoy-an kay two years nga wala sila nakagwa because of the pandemic, so sang naghalog na, nag umpisa na grupo-grupo,” Sangrines said.
The ICPO’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) are starting to locate their whereabouts and trying to reach out their leaders.
Sangrines added that once they can locate their whereabouts they will start profiling so that they have the control of the names of their members.
The ICPO had already used their intelligence officers to help the police in the stations to look for their members.
“We don’t want nga mag-umpisa naman rumble-rumble sa city. We have also monitor their movements and we have to arrest them should they violate health protocols,” Sangrines said.
The ICPO will intensify the enforcement of the curfew for minors and saturation drive to monitor them from carrying deadly weapons and firearms./PN
