Iloilo City sets ‘Undas’ dos and don’ts

ILOILO City – The city government has set up protocols for the safe and orderly observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ days on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

Based on Mayor Jerry Treñas’ Executive Order (EO) No. 40 Series of 2023, beginning 12 a.m. of Oct. 31 until 11:59 p.m. of Nov. 2, 2023, the following are prohibited inside public and private cemeteries, memorial parks, columbaria, and similar places:

* liquor and/or alcoholic beverages

* highly combustible materials

* drones and firearms, except those with security clearances

* sharp objects (knife, cutter, etc.)

* videoke or any sound devices that may cause loud sounds

* deck of cards, Bingo cards or any kind of gambling paraphernalia

* overnight staying

All visitors are also required to observe proper waste disposal.

With regards to sale of flowers, only ambulant vendors with special permits are allowed to sell beginning 6:01 p.m. of Oct. 28 until 11:59 p.m. of Nov. 1 at designated vending areas outside the cemeteries.

The designated areas per district:

* Arevalo – Yulo Drive across police station in Sta. Filomena

* Molo – Locsin private road between Molo plaza and Kapehan across Ramboy’s

* Mandurriao – Oñate Street, beside the public market

* City Proper (Iloilo Central Market area) – Iznart corner Aldguer streets (F&C to Socorro)

* Jaro plaza (except the area at Ledi Supermart) – outside perimeter of the plaza across China Bank until before Jaro belfry across Plus Seminary side of plaza, then from Commission Civil side of Palacio

The aforementioned areas must be cleared by 6 a.m. of Nov. 2.

Application for special permits is until Oct. 28. Interested vendors must secure the following:

* barangay clearance from the barangay a vendor wants to sell (owner – original  and photocopy)

* community tax certificate (owner – original and photocopy)

* any valid ID (owner and helpers – original and photocopy)

* Special Permit Contract – SSD (two copies)

* executive order or regulation ordinance

* anti-smoking signage from Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force

Vendors must process the special permit through the Investment Services Business Permits/ License Division (ISBPLD) of the City Mayor’s Office and pay P200 per stall to the City Treasurer’s Office.

Special permit must be displayed/hanged in such location which could be readily seen by the public especially by the monitoring personnel.

They must also strictly observe “no drugs,” “no smoking” and “no drinking” policies and should maintain cleanliness of their respective areas. They are also not allowed to cook anything within the area.

Moreover, the city government will only provide stall spaces. Vendors are responsible to build their stalls that are two meters in length and three meters in height./PN
