ILOILO City – In a bid to enhance early childhood education and development, the city government has teamed up with PhilSeven Foundation, Inc. to launch the Gulong ng Karunungan: Abot-Alam ng Kabataan project.

The initiative, formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed yesterday, March 24, aims to provide young Ilonggos with alternative learning opportunities, particularly in underserved communities.

“Education is the foundation of a brighter future. We are grateful that PhilSeven Foundation has chosen Iloilo City as a partner in this advocacy to nurture our children,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.

With guidance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led by Teresa Gelogo, RSW, the program will be rolled out in 202 daycare centers across 108 barangays here.

To support the initiative, the foundation donated two educational facilities equipped with learning materials, reinforcing its commitment to accessible and inclusive education.

The Gulong ng Karunungan program features a mobile school that delivers education directly to children, especially those in remote areas. The initiative integrates lessons on basic education, values formation, and hygiene, aligned with the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System and the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Early Childhood Care and Development program.

Naniniwala ang 7-Eleven sa importansya ng edukasyon ng mga batang Pilipino,” said Ramon Almira, District Manager for Visayas 2 of Philippine Seven Corporation./PN
