ILOILO City – The City Health Office (CHO) will have a bigger building soon.

It will rise on a property that used to host the old city slaughterhouse in Barangay North San Jose, Molo district.

Currently, the CHO is holding office at the second floor of the city hall.

According to Dr. Bernard Caspe, city health officer, the five-storey new CHO will be a “one-stop-shop” for public health services.

The Department of Health (DOH) already approved the plan, said Caspe.

The building will cost some P130 million.

DOH pledged to provide the new CHO with medical equipment totalling between P30 to 40 million, said Caspe.

The ground floor will be the consultation area. It will also have rooms for ultrasound, x-ray, counselling, and a laboratory for blood chemistry.

The second floor will have a surgical room while the third floor is for dental services.

The fourth and fifth floors will serve as CHO offices.

Caspe said CHO envisions to deliver free medical services.

Target date of building completion is year 2019. /PN
