ILOILO City will serve as host to one of the three Visayas Regional Final Qualifier legs of the Allianz National Youth Futsal Invitational (ANYFI) scheduled on May 2 and 3.
Allianz Philippines Brand Communications and Digital Director Rei Abrazaldo said the annual event aims to encourage aspiring football and futsal players to not just excel in these sports in their hometowns, but aim to play in international competitions as well.
“The sport of football has progressed a lot since we started our futsal invitational three years ago. We have sent our most talented Filipino players in one of the best if not the best football camps in Asia and Europe,” Abrazaldo said.
“Many of them have advanced in their careers getting into the national team and representing the country in games abroad,” Abrazaldo added. “They have shown that they can indeed play amongst the best young football and futsal players in the world.”
This year’s ANYFI will have two phases: the local eliminations and the regional finals. The other Visayas Regional Final Qualifier are in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental (April 8 to 22) and Cebu City (May 11 to 12).
The top two teams in each age group 14 under boys (born in 2005), 14 under girls (born in 2005), 16 under boys (born on Sept. 1, 2002 and after) and 16 under girls (born on Sept. 1, 2002 and after) will advance to the Visayas Regional Finals on May 25 to 26 in Bacolod City.
