ILOILO City – The city government will be making adjustments to its Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) based on its assessment of the situation during the initial days of the plan’s implementation beginning June 12.

Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said some routes would be lengthened.

“There are routes nga medyo kabos,” he said.

The adjustments won’t affect the fare matrix, he stressed.

One such route is the (Jaro Liko) Tagbak to City Proper. From the Tagbak Terminal, the jeepney passes through the streets of Genereal Luna, Mabini,  De Leon, Valeria, General Luna in the City Proper to Muelle Loney (at back of the Provincial Capitol) to the  La Paz market and back to origin.

Conlu said the recommended adjustment would be from the area of General Luna Street; the jeepneu will go straight to Jalandoni and Rizal streets or at the back of Iloilo Terminal Market (Super) then to the streets of Quezon, De Leon, Valeria, General Luna, and to Muelle Loney (back of the
Provincial Capitol) then back to its point of origin.

“Madritso ang ruta sa likod sang Super to cater sang mas madamo nga pasahero nga nakit-an naton based sa actual implementation,” said Conlu.

Iloilo City is on its sixth day of the LPTRP implementation today.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said the city government is gathering feedbacks. But suspending the LPTRP is out of the question for now, which is a period of adjustments.

“We are getting complaints and suggestions so that we can improve it. We listen to everyone,” said Treñas.

On Wednesday, Treñas met with the representatives of various business organizations and heard their concerns.

According to the city mayor, PSTMO presented a report and shared the actions taken by the city government and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to the concerns expressed by the public.

“We were able to clear their concerns and will continue to update them on the status of routes. They shared that they like the new routes but more vehicles are needed. We were able to answer this a few days ago, through augmentation of more public utility vehicles. We will continue to consult with them,” said Treñas.

Conlu said the trial period given by the Department of Transportation for the implementation of the local route plan is six months. Within that period, they will assess the situation, identify the issues and problems and make recommendations./PN
