ILOILO City – The city government vaccinated 32,063 children aged 12 to 17 against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Nov. 21.
This is 64 percent of the city’s target pediatric population this month.
Some of the kids are scheduled for their second dose of Pfizer inoculation this week.
The city also included in its vaccination rollout non-resident minors studying in the metropolis and those with parents working here.
The pediatric vaccination kicked off on Oct. 29 with 130 minors with comorbidities getting anti-virus shots.
The inoculation was expanded on Nov. 2 to mega vaccination sites in proximity of hospitals (in case of adverse reaction): Ateneo de Iloilo near Qualimed Hospital; SM City near Medicus Medical Center; Robinsons-Jaro near West Visayas State University Medical Center; University of San Agustin near St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo; and Megaworld near The Medical City Iloilo.
A parent or guardian must accompany the minor to the vaccination sites, bringing with them the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
On the other hand, Treñas requested the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to allow the vaccination of minors aged five to 11 “so that they will be protected once face-to-face classes are allowed.”/PN
