ILOILO City – For the second time, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The first time he got infected was in August last year.
Ganzon also confirmed that his wife Girlie, daughters Dr. Niña Ganzon (official in Barangay San Antonio, Molo district) and Rara Ganzon (social worker at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol), two grandchildren (10-year-old-boy and 18-year-old girl) and their 23-year-old house helper tested positive for COVID-19.
Unlike last year wherein he got hospitalized, Ganzon said he and other members of the household have mild symptoms like cough and colds. He said this may also be due to the bad weather.
Bothered by the symptoms, Ganzon said they decided to undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCT) test. Their positive results came out on June 1.
Ganzon believes that as a public official, it is his moral obligation to be transparent and tell the public about his health status.
The Ganzons are quarantining in their Molo residence.
The city vice mayor stressed the importance of following minimum public health standards.
“Kinanglan halong gid kita tanan, pamilya or indi, kay indi ‘ni ‘ya lahog-lahog ang COVID… kag prayers gid,” said Ganzon./PN
