ILOILO City – In response to growing concerns over insurgency, the officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, has issued a warning to the province’s police personnel to heighten their vigilance.
A recent intelligence report identified multiple areas in Iloilo as high-risk for rebel activities, including Leon, Alimodian, Balasan, Bingawan, Calinog, Guimbal, Janiuay, Igbaras, Lambunao, Lemery, Maasin, Miag-ao, San Joaquin, San Rafael, and Tubungan.
Razalan emphasized the importance of readiness, particularly among police chiefs in remote areas, against potential threats from the New People’s Army (NPA).
“I consistently remind our officers, especially those stationed in remote locations, to stay alert and aware, ensuring they are never complacent,” he said.
Razalan also instructed all police personnel to fully utilize their forces and maintain their long firearms ready, particularly in municipalities identified as high-risk areas.
Highlighting the necessity for increased security measures, Razalan urged police officers to be particularly vigilant of individuals entering police stations and to boost overall police visibility.
To better combat these threats, Razalan called for enhanced cooperation with local communities and barangay officials to bolster the barangay intelligence network, which is vital for gathering pertinent information./PN
