Iloilo cops net 1,036 fugitives

ILOILO – In about 11months of operations, 1,036 individuals with pending arrest warrants across this province were sent to jail .

Data (between January and November 22) from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) showed 155 belonged to the top wanted persons at the municipal/city and provincial levels while 21 voluntarily surrendered to the police.

The Ajuy police station had the highest accomplishment at 59 followed by the Concepcion police station with 45 and Barotac Nuevo with 43.

“Those who have low performances in our campaign against wanted personalities, exert more efforts. Review your list of those with arrest warrants and operate them,” said Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, IPPO director.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), meanwhile, told police chiefs to run after fugitives as they could be used as “goons” by some politicians.

“This move is part of our continuing preparations for next year’s national and local elections, and efforts to prevent the occurrence of more gun-related crimes,” said Police Brigadier General Flynn  Dongbo, PRO-6 director./PN
