ILOILO City — Police offices in the city and province of Iloilo will deploy personnel to various schools to ensure a smooth and organized opening of classes on Monday.
Senior Supt. Ruperto Floro, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, said police assistance desks have already been established by different police stations in bus terminals and major school campuses.
They have coordinated with concerned school authorities, school security personnel and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT).
Floro also said the influx of people using public and private transport could result in congestion near schools.
Traffic enforcers, along with BPAT members, have been directed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, he said.
“We also have personnel in civilian clothes who will position themselves near schools to monitor lawless elements,” Floro said.
Fliers containing safety tips in view of the opening of classes have also been distributed to students, he said.
ICPO personnel will give out school supplies and sponsor a feeding program during a flag-raising ceremony at the Feleciana Java Kelly Elementary School in Brgy Calajunan, Mandurriao district here.
Meanwhile, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, Iloilo Police Provincial Office director, assured that all municipal stations are ready for Monday’s opening of classes.
He said he had already ordered the chiefs of police to assign personnel in various schools in their respective areas of responsibility.
“Our personnel already know what to do. My instructions to them are very clear,” Salinas stressed./PN
