GUIMARAS – P. Doce SBC-Iloilo Doctors College averted disaster with a narrow 95-91 victory over Asialink/E&C Trucking in the Mayor Eugene Reyes Invitational Cup on Thursday at the Buenavista Covered Gym.
The Iloilo Doctors College seemed headed to an easy win after leading by as much as 26 points in the third quarter, but the Asialink/E&C Trucking responded with a barrage run to bring close the score 93-91.
Asialink/E&C Trucking, composed mostly of the high school team of the Santa Clarita International School Primes, had a chance to tie but misfired before the IDC iced victory from two free throws.

For the opposing team, Franc Steven Tono of Letran Squires led the Asialink with 20 points, while Ronrei Tolentino and John Bryan Sajonia, who were part of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws had 17 and 12 markers, respectively.
In the other games, Western Institute of Technology-ILOPRISAA leaned on their torrid outside shooting to topple the undermanned Central Philippine University Golden Lions 98-91.
The Golden Lions failed to keep in step with the ILOPRISAA team by the absence of Wilmer Dalumpines, Jesse Sullano and Miguel Sasuman due to examinations./PN
