ILOPRISAA men’s basketball team survived a huge challenge from CAPRISAA to score a double-overtime victory in the 2019 Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet at the STI-West Negros University gym in Bacolod City.
Miguel Sasuman came up with clutch hits for the Ilonggos as he poured seven of his 31 points total in the second extension period to keep the upset-conscious Capiznons at bay.
The ILOPRISAA will attempt for its second straight victory in the tournament serving as a qualifier for the National PRISAA in Davao City when it battles Negros Occidental today.
Meanwhile, NOPSSCEA girls volleyball team cruised to its second straight win after defeating ILOPRISAA with veterans Joan Marie Monares, Katherine Cortez and Beatrice Decena back in action.
The NOPSSCEA also had a winning start secondary boys volleyball on Saturday after taking down Capiz in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19. Jian Salarzon top-scored for the Negrenses in the victory.
ILOPRISAA, represented by Central Philippine University, also started the tournament with a victory in the secondary boys volleyball and in the tertiary men and women volleyball.
In boys football, ILOPRISAA cruised to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over NOPSSCEA. Luis Elnor opened the scoring for Negros before iloilo leveled on Negros’ own goal. Mark Non scored the game winner for Iloilo./PN
