Iloilo jins bag 5 medals in world taekwondo tilt

MANILA – Taekwondo jins from Iloilo captured five medals at the start of the 2018 World Taekwondo Culture Expo on Sunday at the Taekwondowon Center in Muju, South Korea.

The athletes – all from Ateneo de Iloilo and Assumption Passi – took home four golds and one silver.

“I am glad because all of them won medals,” mentor Denmark Pinggol told Panay News. “Our players will surely do everything to improve their performance in our next events.”

Those who won golds were siblings Elaine Margaret and Elizabeth Marie Borres, Niesha Kariz Pequierda, and Roivic Dane Decafe in individual poomsae.

Roices Dane Decafe of individual poomsae bagged the team’s lone silver.

The World Taekwondo Culture Expo has drawn around 2,000 athletes from 31 different countries who will not only participate in the competition but also in various seminars./PN
