MANILA – Members of the Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym made their presence felt during the 2022 SMART/MVPSF National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships held recently at Ayala Malls, Manila Bay in Manila City.
The squad of head coach Denmark Pinggol and assistant coach were impressive in the two-day event as they captured seven golds, seven silvers and seven bronze medals.
Among the gold medal winners were Phil Caleb Regalado, Nathan Lee Abellar, Amber Gale Abellar, Alicia Sophia Gutierrez, Nathan Lee Dedal, Anthony Benedict Planta and Nieka Thalia Guevara.
Capturing silver medals were Regalado, Planta, Paradero, Ryza Chanel Tabucuran, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Margarette Gem Obsequio, Elisha Miela Paradero, Jenella Ashley Tionko, Sirch Einreb Damaolao, Princez Elaiza Doseo and Viene Marie Dulaca.
Bagging bronze medals, meanwhile, were Damaolao, Tabucuran, Julianna Martha Uy, Arvin Kirk Derayunan, Princess Hannah Mia Cruz and Marian Evanne Doseo.
Falling short of podium finishes were finalists Cyd Edryc Esmaña, Princez Elaiza Doseo, Marian Evanne Doseo, Niesha Kariz Pequierda, Geon Ivan Dulaca and Christine Jade Rocessvalles.
Other members of Pinggol’s stable that competed in the prestigious tournament were Justin Adrian Apura, Alyanah Julienne Tonko and Xabriel Zia Gebucion.
Pinggol told Panay News on Sunday that he was delighted that most of their 25 participants in the two-day competitions have captured medals against taekwondo jins from around the country.
“As their head coach, I am happy that we were able to perform this well. There were challenges in our trainings because of the pandemic situation but our players doubled their efforts,” Pinggol said.
The 2022 SMART/MVPSF National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships was the first in-face taekwondo competition participated by the Iloilo MVP stable in nearly two years./PN
