GUIMARAS – Taekwondo jins from the Iloilo Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Gym showcased their wares during the 17th Bonel Regional Taekwondo Championships on Saturday in the Buenavista Gym.
The players, mentored by Denmark Pinggol, captured 10 gold medals, coming mostly from kyorugi events.
Phil Caleb Regalado helmed the team after notching a gold medal each in the poomsae and kyorugi events.
James Annrhey Pecayco, Giovanni Nash Sualog and Sirhc Einreb Damaolao brought home gold medals in the men’s kyorugi, while Ma. Beatrize Santos, Niña Pearl Acosta and Ma. Dorotea Anne Aquino conquered the women’s kyorugi division.
Aside from the Iloilo MVP Gym, other teams who participated were Buenavista, San Lorenzo, Jordan, GBA, St. Joseph, Buenavista National High School, Hua Siong College of Iloilo, Sta. Barbara and Western Visayas State University.
The one-day taekwondo competition was presented by the Municipal Government of Buenavista, in cooperation with the Guimaras Taekwondo Union./PN
