MANILA – Iloilo Football Association barged to the semifinals of the PFF U-19 Boys National Championship 2022 First Division following its 16-0 domination of Mount Apo RFA at the Tionko Football Grounds in Davao City, Davao del Sur.
Selwyn Mamon and Alex Doctora spearheaded with four goals each. Archie Belluga had a hat-trick while James Tuazon contributed two goals.
The Ilonggo booters finished Group B with unbeaten record.
It was scorching with back-to-back goals from Tuazon and Belluga at the third and ninth minute, goals by Mamon, Belluga, RJ Pescadera, Kent De La Peña and Francis Botavara made it 8-0 score at the half.
The Ilonggos were still smoldering in the second half as consecutive hits by Mamon and Doctora made it 11-0. More conversions from Doctora, Belluga and Tuazon wrapped up Iloilo FA’s scoring rampage.
Iloilo FA will next face National Capital Region Football Association in the tournament semifinals slated on June 2 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA), for its part, also reached the semifinals round despite ending their group stage with a 5-1 defeat to NCRFA.
Dominic Tom, John Lloyd Jalique, Lance Locsin, and Axel Andres converted a goal each to lead the way for NCRFA, which finished on top of Group A with a perfect slate at 12 points.
Jerome Aligora netted the consolation goal for the Negrense booters, which puts them in second place in the group stage with nine points.
NOFA will also return to action on June 2 for the semifinals round where they will tangle with SOCSARGEN, which scored a 2-0 win over Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog FA.
In another group stage game, Laguna-Cavite RFA defeated Southeast Luzon Masbate RFA, 3-1, behind conversions from Liam Laitpayan, Kyler Escobar, and Arvin Datoy./PN
