Iloilo, Negros snag golds in swimming, athletics, wushu

Iloilo and Negros Occidental both showed dominance in the swimming events of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet 2019 in Roxas City. CAPIZ AKSYON NEWS CENTER

ILOILO and Negros Occidental showed their way in the swimming competition of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2019 at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.

Raymund Paloma captured three golds for Iloilo in secondary boys 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter backstroke and silvers in 200-meter butterfly and 4×50 relay with Martin and Moses Bito-onon, and Dion Dapat.

Martin Bito-onon also had two golds for Iloilo in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke events and a silver medal in 100-meter freestyle event.

Moses meanwhile has a silver in the 100-meter butterfly fevent and bronze in the 100-meter freestyle event.

Stefany Saac also nabbed three golds for Iloilo in the secondary girls 200-meter backstroke, 400-meter freestyle and 4×100 relay with Camille Belandres, Danielle Valenzuela and Joan Perez.

Also delivering golds for Iloilo were Gabrielle Barlin in the 100-meter freestyle and Danielle Valenzuela in the 200-meter butterfly. Iloilo also has silver in the 4×100 relay (John Sayon, John Bandejas, Franchino Aplaon, Ronald Sta. Ana).

Andrea Seloterio has two bronze medals in the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke, while John Sayon also bagged a bronze for the Ilonggos.

Earl Buncio has three golds for Negros Occidental in the 200-meter butterfly and 4×50 relay with Richmund Soria, Jerome Lanada and Regan Garbanzos and 4×100 relay with Jay-R Punzalan, Thim Concon, and Jarryd Nerri.

He also has bronze in the 100-meter butterfly.

Garbanzos also has a gold in the 100-meter freestyle and two silvers in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle. Concom has silver in 200 meter individual medley and bronze in the 200-meter butterfly.

Mary Lacson has a gold for Negros Occidental in the 200-meter individual medley, silvers in the 200-meter backstroke and 4×100 with Angela Figalan, Julianne Sevilla and Ela Buelos and bronze medals in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle.

Juliana Villavert has gold in the 800-meter freestyle and silvers in the 400-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley, while Karla Labayen and Ela Buelos have bronze in the 800-meter freestyle and 200-meter butterfly, respectively.

Aklan star Kyla Soguilon, meanwhile, nabbed a gold in the 100-meter backstroke, a silver in the 100-meter freestyle and bronze medals in the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter freestyle, respectively.

Joseph Lucio also has gold for Aklan in the 200-meter breaststroke.

Lyxynn Ladrillo delivered two golds for Capiz in 200 meter breaststroke and 4×50 relay with Christine Quirao, Melrose Aleligay and Marie Borres, while Gulliver Clemente bagged a gold for Antique in 200 meter individual medley.

Iloilo continued to make waves in athletics from Alfrence Braza, Angelo Gepilga and Edna Magtubo in secondary and Justin Manantan, Jerson Castor, Therence Zapatos and Anika Hiti-ayon in elementary.

Winning silver were Zapatos, Edward Jarnadal, Andrian Juarez, Athea Andoloy, April Biason, Rosel Mahilum and Christian Pelione, and bronze in Arle Sales, James Daguipil, Andrian Juarez, Kolin Hiponia, Seth Sola, Christine Antonio, Ma. Lara Atibay and Jeyron Eulalio.

Negros Occidental was also dominant in athletics with golds from Joshua Sevilla, RJ Medina, Lyndon Huelar, Keven Candazo, Bianca Seroy, Ahleia Jason, Makyla Tasorite, Kim Villaran, Chris Ann Dayanan and Althea Bayalas.

Iloilo also has wushu golds from Javen Pareja, Jerson Parreno, Jun Barreta, Maria Taliga, Ghenlie Luna and Angelica Saludares, while Negros also won wushu golds from Jarin Varona and Erika Flores.

Antique got two golds each from archer Terrence Marcelo and Eujohn Osorio, Guimaras notched golds from wushu bets Kenneth Espatero and Remar Jay Go and chess players Kith Manuel Magoliman and Kimberly Colaste.

Host Capiz also have two gold medals from Christian Mendoza in 1500 meters and 800 meters, Nino Christian Celis in discus throw and Shakeia Atordido in javelin throw./PN

  1. Just a little correction on the medals of Raymund Paloma. He captured four golds for Iloilo in secondary boys 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle and silver in 200-meter butterfly.He also contributed to the gold in 4×100 freestyle relay with Martin and Moses Bito-onon and Juddsen Em and silver in 4Ɨ50 medley relay with Martin and Moses Bito-onon, and Dion Dapat.
