THE Iloilo Provincial Population Office (PPO) was recently recognized as Most Outstanding Population Office in the country.
A plaque of recognition and a cash prize of P300,000 was conferred by the Commission on Population and Development to the PPO last December 12, 2019 in Pasig City.
Iloilo PPO was recognized for its efficient organizational structure composed of 55 personnel operating in the 42 municipalities and one component city with 2,365 volunteer Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) in 1,721 barangays of the province.
PPO chief Ramon C. Yee said that their various programs and projects enabled them to attain the said award.
They have actively implemented Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Program and Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program.
With the full support of the provincial governor, they established 54 functional school-based multi-purpose teen centers.
Population data banking cum population and development integration was also enhanced by the office. Trainings for data gathering and data encoding were also conducted.
They also conducted the search for the Best Managed Population Data Bank and Best Statistical Data Board in the different municipalities.
They also held service recognition for BSPOs who have volunteered for at least 35 years.
Ramon Yee who is now in his ten years of service was awarded as second placer as Most Outstanding Provincial Population Officer in Western Visayas.
As they continue to work as a team, PPO is now considered as one of the most actives offices of the Iloilo Provincial government./PN
