
ILOILO – Financial aid for hog raisers here hit by the African Swine Fever (ASF) has now reached P11 million.
A total of 1,173 hog raisers received P11,066,000 from the provincial government, data from the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) as of Aug. 14 showed.
Here is the breakdown of the financial aid per affected municipality:
* Oton – P3,226,000 for 396 hog raisers
* San Miguel – P1,443,000 for 127 hog raisers
* Alimodian – P194,000 for 17 hog raisers
* Leganes – P453,000 for 44 hog raisers
* New Lucena – P986,000 for 104 hog raisers
* Mina – P234,000 for 23 hog raisers
* Santa Barbara – P450,000 for 46 hog raisers
* Barotac Viejo – P1,033,000 for 119 hog raisers
* Barotac Nuevo – P461,000 for 44 hog raisers
* Pototan – P30,000 for one hog raiser
* Janiuay – P300,000 for 26 hog raisers
* Zarraga – P167,000 for 17 hog raisers
* Concepcion – P334,000 for 33 hog raisers
* Batad – P429,000 for 37 hog raisers
* Dumangas – P109,000 for 10 hog raisers
* San Dionisio – P307,000 for 33 hog raisers
* Balasan – P32,000 for two hog raisers
* Estancia – P171,000 for 10 hog raisers
* Dingle – P430,000 for 55 hog raisers
* Lambunao – P30,000 for one hog raiser
* Ajuy – P247,000 for 29 hog raisers
Dr. Darel Tabuada, PVO head, said the financial assistance is expected to increase. The aid for the remaining affected hog raisers from the towns of Oton, Dingle, Concepcion, Batad, and Badiangan is being processed.
Below is the breakdown of the remaining checks being processed:
* Oton – P426,000 for 52 hog raisers
* Dingle – P110,000 for 12 hog raisers
* Concepcion – P35,000 for five hog raisers
* Batad – P31,000 for four hog raisers
* Badiangan – P15,000 for one hog raiser
The financial aid ranging between P7,000 and P30,000 was given to beneficiaries based on the assessed number of affected hogs, as stipulated in Executive Order (EO) No. 545 Series of 2022 issued by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
The assistance is based on the number of swine heads, whether sow, fattener or young swine (except sucklings), as follows:
* one to five hog heads – P7,000
* six to 10 hog heads – P10,000
* 11 to 15 hog heads – P15,000
* 16 to 20 hog heads – P20,00
* 21 to 25 hog heads – P25,000
* 26 hog heads and above – P30,000
As part of the guidelines, the depopulation must be documented by the provincial / municipal / city ASF taskforce. In the grant of financial assistance to swine farmers, only one farm owner (individual/family/company/cooperative) per farm shall be recognized as beneficiary.
Meanwhile, farms that conduct swine depopulation because of suspected or probable ASF cases but not under the supervision of the provincial / municipal / city ASF taskforce shall not be qualified for financial assistance. The financial aid to affected hog farmers will be taken from the approved P40-million supplemental budget of the province.
As of Aug. 8, 27 municipalities recorded cases of ASF: Oton, San Miguel, Alimodian, Santa Barbara, Leganes, New Lucena, Mina, Janiuay, Dumangas, Barotac Nuevo, Pototan, Dingle, Banate, Barotac Viejo, Ajuy, Concepcion, San Dionisio, Batad, Estancia, Balasan, Maasin, Badiangan, Dueñas, San Enrique, Zarraga, Lambunao, and Carles./PN
