ILOILO City showed its dominance by taking the overall championship in the secondary and tertiary level of the Western Visayas Private Schools Association (WVPRISAA) Meet 2019, which closed on Wednesday in Bacolod City.
Iloilo City took home the overall title in secondary level with 114 gold; 81 silver and 45 bronze medals, followed by Capiz (55-62-68), Negros Occidental (47-80-64), and Aklan (2-0-6).
Iloilo City captured most of its medals in swimming, athletics and taekwondo and also through team championships in secondary girls basketball and secondary girls table tennis.
Capiz, meanwhile, stamped its class in athletics and secondary boys basketball, while Negros Occidental ended up with gold medals in secondary boys and girls volleyball and secondary boys football.
In the tertiary level, Iloilo City also finished off with most medals with 149 gold, 106 silver and 50 bronze medals, while Negros Occidental is at second with 111 gold, 82 silver and 41 bronze medals, Capiz (9-30-67) and Aklan (0-0-39).
Iloilo City has been dominant by sweeping the tertiary volleyball championships, tertiary men’s sepak takraw, while Negros Occidental ruled the football and overall championships in men’s and women’s athletics.
The gold medal winners from the WVPRISAA Meet have earned a ticket to represent the region in the Regional PRISAA, which will be held this May in Davao City./PN
