ILOILO – This province’s 5th District registered the most number of voters for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections this May 14.
Data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Iloilo as of Dec. 18, 2017 showed a total of 375,642 registered voters in the district which has 267 voting centers.
Of the 375,642 voters, 104,114 are registered for the SK election while 271,528 are for the barangay poll.
Of the 5th District’s 11 municipalities, the one with the most number of registered voters in the barangay and SK elections is Carles (56,425).
The following are the number of registered voters in the 10 other towns of the district:
* Sara – 42,371
* Ajuy – 42,131
* Estancia – 40,542
* Barotac Viejo – 38,891
* Concepcion – 33,868
* San Dionisio – 31,391
* Balasan – 29,438
* Lemery – 26,519
* Batad – 19,415
* San Rafael – 14,561
At 324,671, the 3rd District has the second most number of registered voters for the barangay and SK polls in the province, followed by the 4th District which has 309,012.
The 1st District has 274,720 registered voters while the 2nd District has the least with 253,670.
Among the province’s 42 towns and component city of Passi, the one with the most number of registered voters is Oton in the 1st District – 61,815.
Next to Oton is Dumangas in the 4th District (57,420) followed by Carles in the 5th District (56,425), Pototan in the 3rd District (53,193) and Miag-ao in the 1st District (51,965).
The component city of Passi has 65,650 registered voters – 15,989 for the SK poll and 49,661 for the barangay poll.
Overall, the province has 1,537,715 registered voters – 1,138,457 for the barangay election and 399,258 for the SK./PN
