OUT of the many aspirants around the world who took part in the first Philippines International Arts Festival, participants from the Dance STEP (School of Teray Ecube Portugalete) struck the juries with awe to earn nine gold and six silver trophies from the event.
Its students performed with grace and sprinkled magnificence in the spotlight as they proudly carry the name of the country.
Countries like the United States of America, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Japan, and the Philippines joined the competition organized by Malaysia-based Filipina, Sharon Marie Barilla and her team. The tilt aims to motivate and encourage artists around the globe to continue their passion amid the pandemic.
Among the team’s gold awardees are:

- Amirah Louise Guevarra – Latin Showcase
- Kirsten Marie Moleño – Latin Showcase
- Ma. Glaiza Fae Cordero – Latin Showcase
- Sheen Marielle Tayhopon – Latin Showcase
- Francine Kate Rusia – Latin Showcase
- Bryce Moleño – Contemporary
- Michaela Mei Nagallo – Vocal Solo
Meanwhile, the silver awardees are:
- Aisha Mathea Piccio – Latin Showcase
- Athena Ysabelle Esbieto – Latin Showcase
- Aliyah Fae Torilla – Latin Showcase
- Jessica Mingels – Vocal Solo
- Dayanella Llanna Gealon – Modeling
- Danielle Anne Gealon – Modeling
This coming May 15, Dance STEPS’ own Francine Malaban will join the world tour sponsored by the Philippine International Organization.
These talented artists were mentored by Dr. Teresita Portugalete, Prof. Reynaldo Susbilla Jr., Jolyn Faye Sanchez, and Justin Nories Bautista.
