Iloilo’s Kadiwa market for agri produce goes online

TO KEEP up with the sustained and steady demand for fresh, safe and quality vegetables of consumers in Iloilo City this enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas started the operation of KADIWA Online Service yesterday, April 15.

“This is another marketing strategy to ensure the accessibility and availability of agricultural food to every Ilonggo household,” said DA regional executive director Remelyn Recoter.

Consumers are advised to properly fill-up the Kadiwa Order Form available at

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeronaK3G1o2I3tquAU5EB-ZeW_g4T0D56hrT42MiXjGi9hKA/viewform.

Buyers will be required to provide his/her complete name, address and contact information such as mobile number, Facebook account or email address.

Once the order is confirmed, the client will be given a code to track the delivery.

Two sets of vegetable packs will be available for clients to choose from.

Set A or the pakbet/laswa/sinigang veggie pack will include 2 kilograms of banana saba, two kilograms of banana tundal, 1 kilogram of squash, ½ kilogram each of okra, string beans, eggplant, batwan, onion, sweet potato, ampalaya and tomato, ¼ kilogram each of radish, camote tops, saluyot and alogbati, and 1/8-kilogram hot pepper.

On the other hand, the Set B or the chopseuy/pochero/nilaga veggie pack will have 2 kilograms each of banana tundal and banana saba, ½ kilogram each of cauliflower, chayote, cabbage, carrots and onion, and ¼ kilogram each of Baguio beans, hot pepper, tomato and pechay.

For only P440.00 per pack, consumers can already prepare up to two to three menus for the family. Cash on delivery will be the primary mode of payment, however, the cashless transaction will also be available depending on the preference of the supplier.

Buyers can place their orders from Monday to Thursday and the vegetable packs will be ready for pick-up delivery by Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Research Center, and in the plazas of Jaro, La Paz and Mandurriao districts.

However, the schedule for pick up delivery in Molo Plaza will be on Thursday, thus, orders must be placed from Monday to Wednesday only.

Clients are urged to wear a mask, bring their eco-bags, and observe physical distancing when picking up their orders.

The agency rolls out the Kadiwa marketing initiatives to provide income to farmers and at the same time to make fruits, vegetables, and fishery products more available and accessible to urban families.

According to Recoter, the existing Kadiwa markets in Iloilo City and Bacolod City which started on March 31 and April 1 respectively had already generated P2.1 million sales as of April 14.

“I am happy that we can help our farmers in bringing their fresh farm produce to our consuming public this time that the movement of people is strictly limited due to ECQ,” Recoter added. (Sheila Mae H. Toreno/DA-RAFIS 6)
