ILOILO City – Ilongga taekwondo jin Angelie Marie Perillo reached the semifinals round of the 1st Online Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships after a strong showcase in the preliminary stage.
Perillo, who is from Jaro, Iloilo but now lives in New Zealand, placed 14th in Group D after garnering a total of 6.58 points in Poomsae 1, Poomsae 2 and the tiebreaker on May 6.

Alan Diasnes Taekwondo gym’s Flora Navales, who serves as Perillo’s coach, hopes the former Colegio de San Jose standout will remain consistent in the tournament.

“Our training has been good naman even if sa online lang kami,” Navales told Panay News. “I believe she is capable of going all the way to the finals round.”

Perillo, who is currently ranked 77th among Female Cadet Blackbelts, is a decorated player despite her young age.
One of her national career highlights so far was winning a gold medal in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa. In the international stage, on the other hand, the Ilongga had gold medal finishes in the 2018 International Taekwondo Festival held in Los Angeles, California, USA and in the 2019 Budo South Open Taekwondo Championships.

The 1st Online Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships is being streamed live on masTaekwondo.com Official Facebook account.
