Ilongga Lamparero places 3rd in Subic triathlon

ILONGGA Jacqui Rose Lamparero continued to make waves after finishing third in the Women’s Elite Standard Distance Category of the National Age Group Triathlon Subic Leg 2019 held recently at San Bernardino inside Subic Bay Freeport.

The Iloilo City native Lamparero, who is a member of Central Philippine University Golden Lions Varsity Team in Athletics, finished the 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike ride and 10-km run in two hours, 30 minutes, and 32 seconds.

Lamparero, who is a first-year BS Psychology student at the Central Philippine University, said she is grateful with her third place finish and will strive further in training to improve her placing in her upcoming events.

“This is another great race for me. But it is still a long way to go for me,” Lamparero said in an interview with Panay News. “This feat inspires me to improve further and pursue my goals in triathlon.”

Prior to her third place finish in Subic, Lamparero finished at sixth place during the 2017 Subic Bay ASTC Triathlon with 1:18:02 clocking. She was the only Filipina in the Top Ten.

Lamparero also claimed the championship in the 2017 National Age Group Triathlon – Subic Bay Freeport Sprint Distance Event. She also landed third last year in the 2018 Mt. Mayon Asian Triathlon Confederation in Legaspi City, Albay.

The National Age Group Triathlon-Subic Leg is organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines in cooperation with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and Green Triathlon./PN
