ILOILO City – After months of speculation as to where she is headed for college, Ilongga middle blocker Amie “Em Em” Provido formalized her commitment with the De La Salle University Lady Spikers.
The Pototan, Iloilo native told Panay News she chose to commit with the Lady Spikers after receiving offers from various Metro Manila-based schools despite being just a Grade 10 student.
“Yes. It’s La Salle. It is my dream school ever since and it is one of the top universities in the country,” the 5-foot-9 Provido said. “So when I received an offer from them, I did not think twice of committing.”
Added the Palanguia National High School standout: “I also did listen to the inquiries from other Manila-based schools and universities but it was at La Salle where I feel I can be at home.”
The 15-year-old Provido looks forward to playing for Lady Spikers head coach Ramil de Jesus, whom she believes can hone her volleyball skills further.
“I am a fan of the DLSU Lady Spikers and F2 Logistics Cargo Movers so I am looking forward to be coached by coach Ramil,” Provido said. “I am looking forward to improving my skill further and become a successful volleyball player.”
Provido, who was part of the Iloilo City team that competed in Batang Pinoy National Finals recently, will be transferring to the DLSU Manila for senior high school next year, where she will join the training of the Lady Spikers’ squad.
“I have agreed to move to DLSU next year so that I will have a chance to learn coach Ramil’s system further. I will be ready come college time,” said the Ilongga middle blocker./PN
