MANILA – Chery Tiggo Crossovers got back on the winning track in the 2024 PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference with a 26-24, 25-15, 25-18 sweep over NxLed Chameleons on Tuesday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Ilongga Princess Anne Robles finished with 15 points, majority came in the opening quarter, to be named Player of the Game as the Crossovers notched their second victory in three matches.
“Sobrang happy kasi ‘yung mga ginawa ko these past few days ay nagawa ko sa laro,” Robles said in a post-game interview. “I reminded them na kailangan manalo kami ng straight sets para sa crucial points, at mai-ayos ang galaw namin, lalo na sa depensa.”
Ilongga Abigail Maraño added 11 points, including decisive quick attacks that sealed victories in the first two sets, while Victorinara Galang and Mary Rhose Dapol combined for 14 markers for the Crossovers.
Chiara Permentilla finished with 12 points to lead the Chameleons, May Luna added eight markers, while Lycha Ebon and Jaila Atienza contributed seven points apiece. They dropped to 0-3 record.
Meanwhile, PLDT High Speed Hitters stayed undefeated in the season-ending after a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 sweep over Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers, currently with 0-3 mark.
Kath Arado showcased her defensive prowess to finish with a double-double of 14 excellent digs and 17 excellent receptions as the High Speed Hitters took solo first place with a 3-0 win-loss slate.
“Siguro kulang pa ‘yung receptions namin kasi ‘yung mga next games namin malalakas ‘yung service, kaya kailangan lang namin maging consistent sa reception kasi madali na lang ang buhay kapag may maganda kaming receive,” she said after the game.
“Opo naman nakikita naman ang maturity ng team namin, nagsisimula naman ‘yan sa practice, tine-training ‘yun ‘yung mga pagkukulang namin individually and as a team, kulang,” added the former University of the East Lady Warriors standout.
Savannah Davison led the way with 17 points, including 16 attacks, to go with seven excellent receptions while Erika Santos and Fiola Ceballos contributed 11 markers apiece for the High Speed Hitters./PN
